MELBOURNE—Edelman Melbourne has appointed corporate reputation advisor Brian Shrowder as senior counsel. Shrowder will provide Edelman clients with counsel in corporate reputation management, issues and crisis handling and media relations strategies. Prior to joining Edelman, he worked with Hill+Knowlton for 12 years in Melbourne, Sydney and the Middle East where he was regional director for crisis and training.He began his career as a television news presenter with the ABC.

HONG KONG—Hill+Knowlton Strategies has promoted KW Lam, previously deputy managing director, to managing director of the firm’s Hong Kong operation.  Kristy Chan, previously group director is promoted to deputy managing director. Lam joined H+K Strategies Hong Kong as director in 2008 after holding communications leadership roles for Alcatel and Titan Petrochemicals. Chan is a nine-year veteran of the firm.

BEIJING—Weber Shandwick has been appointed to help launch Merlin Entertainments’ new attraction Madame Tussauds Beijing, which will open at the end of May 2014. Weber Shandwick was selected for the firm’s ability to combine local expertise with an international perspective. The agency’s scope of work includes comprehensive public relations services, including relationship management with media and key opinion leaders, and online and offline events communications.

SYDNEY—Hill+Knowlton Strategies has appointed Megan Magill as director of public affairs, Canberra. A former ABC broadcast journalist and senior ministerial media advisor in the Howard government, Magill will be responsible for continuing the growth of the H+K public affairs practice in Australia. She will report to H+K Australia’s director of public and corporate affairs, Tim McPhail.

HONG KONG—The Hoffman Agency has hired Ann Hung in its Hong Kong operation as general manager, and appointed Jenny Chan as vice president, new business development and marketing for APAC. Prior to joining Hoffman, Hung worked in several senior positions for Bite, Thomson Reuters and Ketchum. Both Hung and Chan will report to Natalie Lowe, managing director Asia Pacific.
